Route Overview
The Lemosho Route is widely considered one of the most beautiful routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. Starting from the western side of the mountain, it offers remote wilderness, diverse scenery, and excellent acclimatization due to its longer itinerary. It is ideal for climbers seeking stunning views and higher success rates.

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha β Welcome to Tanzania
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and meet your Visit Creation Safaris representative. Transfer to your lodge in Arusha for check-in, followed by a detailed briefing on the trek, gear check, and final preparations. Relax, enjoy the lodge amenities, and soak in the vibrant Tanzanian atmosphere as you anticipate your adventure.

Day 2: Arusha β Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
Drive to Londorossi Gate for registration, then continue to the trailhead. Trek through lush rainforest teeming with blue and colobus monkeys. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp, where youβll spend your first night beneath the canopy, embracing the sounds of the wild.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
Today you leave the rainforest behind and enter the heather and moorland zone. The trail climbs steadily toward the Shira Plateau with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. Camp overnight at Shira 1 Camp.

Day 4: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
A shorter trekking day allows for better acclimatization. Walk across the wide Shira Plateau while enjoying stunning views of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaroβs Kibo Peak. Arrive early at Shira 2 Camp for rest and acclimatization.

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp β Lava Tower β Barranco Camp
Climb high and sleep low for acclimatization. Ascend to Lava Tower (4,630m) for lunch, then descend to Barranco Camp (3,950m), nestled beneath the imposing Barranco Wall. Traverse alpine desert landscapes and marvel at the dramatic geological features along the way.

Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
The morning starts with the climb of Barranco Wall, a steep but non-technical ascent that rewards you with sweeping views. Then follow a series of rolling ridges and valleys before reaching Karanga Camp, your base for rest and further acclimatization.

Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (Summit Base Camp)
Todayβs trek takes you to Barafu Camp, your final base before the summit push. The landscape is now stark and lunar-like, with loose rocks and frigid air setting the scene for what lies ahead. After an early dinner, youβll rest and mentally prepare for the summit attempt, which begins around midnight.

Day 8: Summit Day β Barafu to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Under starlight, begin the summit push in the stillness of the night. Ascend slowly to Stella Point (5,739m), then make your final push to Uhuru Peak (5,895m)βthe highest point in Africa. Celebrate with photos and a deep sense of accomplishment before descending back to Barafu Camp for a short rest. Then continue down to Mweka Camp, where youβll spend your final night on the mountain.

Day 9: Mweka Camp β Mweka Gate β Return to Arusha
